He was raised in Cape Town and The Netherlands where he completed high school. He attended film school in Cape Town; where he majored in Screenwriting, Editing, Cinematography and Directing.

Still based in Cape Town; Jon-Luke works primarily as a First Assistant Director on Feature Films.
